Miyagoshi Shōkan (Miyagoshi Tatsugorō) was born on March 27, 1904 in Kyoto Prefecture. He studied under Asai Shōdō and Ueda Chokudō. He began teaching in 1927. Over the course of his 40+ year career, he was a member of the Ueda-ryu Osaka Executive Committee and Keiyu-kai as well as the vice president of the Takarazuka City Sankyoku Association.
